I hired Alaa for a labor dispute. He handled the case very professionally and strategically from the beginning, was very responsive on WhatsApp with quick replies, and clearly walked me through my options while actually listening to what I wanted. I was a bit more on the offensive side and he balanced that, protected my interest, and we had a good connection. Pricing was part of the negotiation so I can't compare it, but it felt positive and fair to me.

Alaa helped me with my residence permit in the Netherlands and basically guided me through every step of the immigration process. He is very professional, responsive and strategic, and very knowledgeable when dealing with the Dutch immigration authorities, so the whole process felt smooth. I wanted a lawyer I could trust because it involves a lot of personal documents, and from the very beginning he gave me confidence with his knowledge in this domain. The process took almost half a year, but that was because the Dutch authority takes a long time, not because of his service.

I had severe problems with a real estate agent who rented me an apartment under false pretences about how heavily it was infected by mould, which ended up infesting my whole bedroom, and I couldn’t use it for about half my stay while he wasn’t replying to my emails or WhatsApp. I didn’t want to involve lawyers, but I needed legal help, and Alaa represented me, was present during meetings with the real estate agent, and handled the Dutch terminology and regulations I didn’t know. It was pretty hostile, and having him by my side made me more comfortable and showed I wasn’t going to back down without a fight. In the end, I got some money back, and I’m very happy with how it ended up.

Frequently Asked Questions
What people want to know before hiring immigration lawyers in Amsterdam.
What should I check before hiring immigration lawyers in Amsterdam?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and a price in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check the credential yourself rather than taking it on trust.
Are prices in Amsterdam quoted with or without BTW?
Check, because it varies. A price quoted to a consumer should already include BTW, and most trades do show it that way, but plenty of price lists are still written excluding it. The rate is 21% on most work, though labour on a home more than two years old is taxed at 9%, and so are things like sports and fitness classes. Look for the word "inclusief" or "exclusief" next to the figure before you compare two quotes, and ask whether travel costs and parking are in there too.
How do I check a business in Amsterdam is properly registered?
Every legitimate Dutch business has a KvK number from the Chamber of Commerce, and you can look it up free in the public register. For gas, heating and electrical work there are extra schemes worth asking about, mainly SCIOS and InstallQ. A business that will not give you its KvK number is a reason to walk away.
What is the most important thing to know before booking?
Be clear about what you want and get the price and scope agreed up front, so there are no surprises. Reading other people's reviews is the quickest way to find someone who does the job well and turns up when they said they would.
What should I avoid when hiring immigration lawyers in Amsterdam?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I find immigration lawyers I can trust in Amsterdam?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real experience, not who paid the most.
