Bido has been my wife’s and my trainer for about a year and a half, and so far it’s been a great experience. He is very experienced, and because he is also a physiotherapist, when I had shoulder pains he knew exactly what to do and really solved the issue. He is very flexible with the workouts and the hours, and if we miss a workout even on the day, he just schedules something else for us and it is not an issue. He is very kind, professional, easy to get along with, and it is really fun to go to training with him.

I’ve been to Cheyenne three or four times for foot treatment, and she made my feet feel much better over time. The place is small and cozy, everything looks very new, and she’s very careful with hygiene, which was exactly what I was looking for. It was also close to where I live, and the price felt fair. There don’t seem to be many of these foot treatment places in the city, so I’m very happy with what she’s done for me.

I went with Daphne a few times for massage, and the first session I had with her was really good. She asked me a few questions before starting, explained everything, and was very patient with me. After every session with her, I can rest much better, and she is also really good at giving me advice and answering all the questions I ask her.

What to know about real estate & accommodation in Amsterdam

Amsterdam's rental market is the hardest part of arriving, and it is where fees are least transparent. An estate agent is usually paid a percentage of the sale price rather than a flat fee, so a small-sounding percentage is a large number here. Before you pay any tenant-side fee, ask in writing who instructed the agent and who is paying them, because that answer changes what you can be charged. Co-working memberships are quoted excluding BTW.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who pays the estate agent?
On a sale, normally the seller, as a percentage of the price. On a rental it depends on who instructed the agent, and that is the question to ask in writing before you pay anything. If the agent is working for the landlord, be careful about what you are being asked to cover.
Are prices in Amsterdam quoted with or without BTW?
Check, because it varies. A price quoted to a consumer should already include BTW, and most trades show it that way, but plenty of price lists are still written excluding it. The rate is 21% on most work, though labour on a home more than two years old is taxed at 9%, and so are sports and fitness classes.
How do I check a business in Amsterdam is properly registered?
Ask for the KvK number and look it up in the Chamber of Commerce register, which is free and public. It tells you the business exists, what it is registered to do and how long it has been trading. Anyone who will not give you that number is telling you something useful.
How are businesses ranked here?
On their reviews, and every review is phone-verified, which means we confirm the person actually used the business before it goes live. Nobody can pay to move up the list.
How much do co-working spaces cost in Amsterdam?
In Amsterdam a day pass runs €10 to €35, a hot desk €150 to €400 a month, a dedicated desk €250 to €450, and a private office from €450 per person, all excluding 21% BTW.
How much do real estate agents cost in Amsterdam?
Amsterdam selling agents charge 0.90% to 1.35% of the sale price, and buying agents ask about 1% to 1.5% or a fixed €2,500 to €8,000.
