Alice

Lisbon, Apr 2026

Matt came in February to do waterproofing and a bunch of little things around the house, and it was great. Communication was excellent, he was on time and I wasn’t inconvenienced. The work quality was fine and the price felt fair. I even rehired him for some renovations later because it was a good experience and I have nothing to complain about.

Matt did an excellent job installing a swivel glass shower door for me in Lisbon. He was exceptionally polite and communicated well throughout the process. It's hard to find someone who speaks English, is competent, and offers good value, but Matt checked all those boxes. I'll definitely use his services again in the future.

Patricia

Lisbon, May 2026

I hired Matt for plastering and painting in my place. He communicated really well, showed up when he said he would, and was very professional, energetic, and helpful. The plastering could have been more finessed - some spots weren’t as flat as I expected - but overall, he’s skilled and solved issues as they came up. Price felt fair, maybe even on the cheap side, and though he later mentioned he had under-budgeted, he never made it awkward or asked for more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What expats want to know before hiring plaster contractors in Lisbon.

Are there English-speaking plaster contractors in Lisbon?
Yes, and more do as the expat community grows. The hard part is knowing who is reliable before you book, so every one we list is reviewed by other expats who have actually used them.
What should I check before hiring plaster contractors in Lisbon?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and an estimate in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check they hold the right credentials for the job.
What is the most important thing to know before booking?
Be clear about what you want and get the price and scope agreed up front, so there are no surprises. Reading other expats' reviews is the quickest way to find someone who does the job well and communicates clearly.
What should I avoid when hiring plaster contractors in Lisbon?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I explain what I need if my Portuguese is limited?
A photo, a short video or a written list does most of the talking, and the professionals we list are used to international clients. Booking an English-speaking one takes the stress out of it entirely.
How do you say plaster contractors in Portuguese?
In Portuguese, plaster contractors are usually called estucadores. That is the word to search for or to ask a neighbour, though many professionals here are used to the English term too.
How do I find plaster contractors I can trust in Lisbon?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real expat experience, not who paid the most.
