Jade

Setubal, Sep 2026

I used Henrique's company for a move from my apartment in Lisbon to a house I bought in the countryside, and I was happy with the service overall, with his team, with his communication, and the price felt fair. We had an issue with a missing item in the van, but Henrique's communication was good and it was resolved in the end. There were no damages or anything like that, just a slight delay in the beginning but everything was fine.

Alfredo helped when I moved house and needed a team to bring everything off the truck and place it in the rooms. They did more than that, they unpacked everything, removed all the packaging, and took literally all the rubbish away from the house, which is always the biggest annoyance after a move. They have also come back a few other times to help move heavy things around, and they are really flexible. Rachel answers me within one hour, the service was fantastic, and the price felt very fair.

Moita, Oct 2026

I hired Eddie for a house move after another company cancelled on me the night before, and he answered right away and fit me in between 12 and 1. He moved everything from the old house to the new house, everything went smooth and everything was ok. They were very helpful, did a lot of extra stuff, assembled a lot of things, and were very careful about my things. They were really nice and all good, and for me the experience was amazing.

How much does a man with a van cost in Lisbon?

Real price ranges for single items, small moves and a van with a driver. Prices updated October 2026

Appliance move

How much does an appliance move cost in Lisbon?

Most people pay by the hour for a van and two people, often with a one or two hour minimum, so ask for a total before they come. Old Lisbon buildings with no lift and tight stairs add time, and check whether the rate includes IVA.

Van and two people, per hour
€25 to €50
One appliance, per job
after a description or photos

Few items move

How much does moving a few items cost in Lisbon?

For a few boxes and a piece or two of furniture, many Lisbon movers charge by the hour with a two hour minimum, so a short trip often lands near the bottom of this range. Stairs with no lift, a long carry from where the van can stop, or a weekend slot push it up.

A few items, short trip in Lisbon
€50 to €150
Van and driver, per hour
€20 to €40

Furniture pickup and delivery

How much does furniture pickup and delivery cost in Lisbon?

Getting one item from a shop or an OLX seller to your place is usually a short job, and having it carried up the stairs costs more than a drop at the street door. IKEA's own delivery to a Lisbon address sits in the same range, so it's a fair yardstick when you compare quotes.

Dropped at your street door
€30 to €50
Carried inside and upstairs
€50 to €100
Delivered and assembled
€60 to €200

Man with a van

How much does a man with a van cost in Lisbon?

Most man and van jobs in Lisbon are billed by the hour with a two hour minimum, and the cheap starting rates you see online often leave out IVA, so ask for the full rate. Check whether the clock starts at your door or when they leave their base.

Van and driver, per hour
€20 to €40
With a helper, per hour
€30 to €55
Minimum booking (often 2 hours)
€40 to €100

Same-day small move

How much does a same-day move cost in Lisbon?

Same-day help is often possible if you call in the morning, and many small movers just charge their normal hourly rate with a two hour minimum. Some add an urgency charge, so ask for the total before you agree.

Van and driver, per hour
€20 to €40
Urgency surcharge
after a description or photos

Single furniture item move

How much does moving a single piece of furniture cost in Lisbon?

One sofa or wardrobe usually needs two people, and in older Lisbon buildings a tight stairwell can mean taking legs or doors off, or lifting it through a window, which costs extra. A wardrobe that has to come apart adds assembly time on top.

One sofa or wardrobe, two people
€60 to €150
Wardrobe taken apart and rebuilt, extra
€100 to €150

Single pallet move

How much does moving a single pallet cost in Lisbon?

For one pallet a groupage carrier is usually cheapest, but it drops at street level and you may need a tail lift, which can cost extra. A van and driver is quicker for a short hop across Lisbon, and check whether the quote includes IVA, since some carriers list prices without it.

One pallet by groupage carrier
€40 to €90
Van and driver, per hour
€20 to €40

Studio or T1 move

How much does a studio or T1 move cost in Lisbon?

A studio or T1 with a lift and everything already boxed usually takes a van and two or three movers about three to four hours. No lift, a top floor in an old building or asking them to pack pushes it toward the top, and not every quote includes IVA.

Studio or T1, per job
€150 to €450
By the hour (often a 3 hour minimum)
€45 to €80

Furniture disassembly and reassembly

How much does furniture disassembly and reassembly cost in Lisbon?

Assemblers charge by the hour or per piece, and a big wardrobe takes far longer than a bed or a chest of drawers. Some add a travel fee if you're outside their usual area, so ask for one total.

Assembler, per hour
€15 to €45
One piece (bed, drawers, table)
€35 to €100
Large wardrobe
€100 to €150

Packing and unpacking

How much does a packing and unpacking service cost in Lisbon?

Packing is usually charged by the hour on top of the move, and having the crew do it adds roughly a third to the bill. Boxes and tape are often extra, so ask what's included and whether you can bring your own.

Packer, per hour
€25 to €45
Packing a whole flat

Frequently Asked Questions

What expats want to know before hiring man with a van services in Lisbon.

Are there English-speaking man with a van services in Lisbon?
Yes. Plenty of small movers in Lisbon work with expats, and the ones we list are reviewed by people who have actually used them, so you can see who turns up on time and handles your things with care.
When do I need a man with a van instead of a moving company?
When it's a few items, a single piece of furniture or a studio you've already boxed up. For a whole flat with packing, insurance and a full crew, a moving company is the better fit, and we list those too.
What should I send to get an accurate quote?
A list of the items with photos, both addresses, the floor at each end and whether there's a lift, and where the van can stop. Many old Lisbon buildings have narrow stairs and no lift, and saying so up front avoids a higher bill on the day.
What if my building has no lift or very narrow stairs?
Say so when you ask for the quote. Big pieces may need to come apart, or in some streets go up through a window with a rope or a hoist, which takes extra people and time. Ask whether sorting out parking for the van is your job or theirs.
Are prices in Lisbon quoted with or without IVA?
Check, because both happen. A price shown to a consumer should include IVA (23% on most services in mainland Portugal), but plenty of quotes are still written "sem IVA" or "+ IVA". Ask for the final price, and whether a travel fee (deslocação) is added on top, before you compare two quotes.
Are my things insured during a small move?
Not always. Many one-van operators carry only basic cover, so ask what's covered and up to how much, and get it in writing before you book. For anything fragile or valuable, a moving company with full insurance can be worth it.
How do you say man with a van in Portuguese?
Ask for "pequenas mudanças" (small moves), "fretes" or a "carrinha com motorista" (a van with a driver). A short list of your items in Portuguese, even from a translation app, makes the first message much easier.
How do I find a man with a van I can trust in Lisbon?
Check recent reviews and agree the price, the hours and what's included in writing. On Locallista every review is phone-verified and the ranking is based on real experience, not who paid the most.
