Claudia has been our lifesaver for almost two and a half years, kind of our backup solution, and honestly she’s become part of the family. She speaks perfect English and Spanish, which was amazing when we were new parents in Barcelona and when my parents visited, and she’s organized, kind, amazing with the kids, always goes above and beyond even bringing little gifts. She communicates so well - sends photos, checks in about any instructions, and even asks before giving a treat - and she’s usually five minutes early and somehow makes it work when I call her at the drop of a hat. The price feels like an incredible value for what she does.

We arranged childcare for a cousin's wedding in Italy and needed someone for our two boys - our oldest is autistic and the youngest neurotypical. We found them through a website, chatted on WhatsApp, shared the profiles we liked, they suggested similar ones, and Elisa came to our hotel on the day. The way she approached the children was really good, very soothed personality, the kids connected with her, did activities, even went to the park, and she basically took over everything while a relative was around just in case, which made us feel reassured. Communication was really helpful throughout and the price felt okay for two kids, maybe a bit expensive for some, but it was fine for us.

I hired Claudia for nanny care for our daughter, who was 3 months old when we started and is now 8 months, and she has been great. She was always reliable and super flexible if we needed extra time, a different day, or at night, and they have a whole team of nannies and babysitters if you need backup. I always felt comfortable with her in our home, super professional and just really normal and safe. The price felt fair, and I already recommend them in expat groups because they’ve seriously been a lifesaver.

Frequently Asked Questions
What expats want to know before hiring nannies in Barcelona.
Are there English-speaking nannies in Barcelona?
Yes, and more do as the expat community grows. The hard part is knowing who is reliable before you book, so every one we list is reviewed by other expats who have actually used them.
What should I check before hiring nannies in Barcelona?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and an estimate in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check they hold the right credentials for the job.
What is the most important thing to know before booking?
Be clear about what you want and get the price and scope agreed up front, so there are no surprises. Reading other expats' reviews is the quickest way to find someone who does the job well and communicates clearly.
What should I avoid when hiring nannies in Barcelona?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later.
How do I explain what I need if my Spanish is limited?
A photo, a short video or a written list does most of the talking, and the professionals we list are used to international clients. Booking an English-speaking one takes the stress out of it entirely.
How do you say nannies in Spanish?
In Spanish, nannies are usually called nineras. That is the word to search for or to ask a neighbour, though many professionals here are used to the English term too.
How do I find nannies I can trust in Barcelona?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real expat experience, not who paid the most.
