I have known this dentist studio for more than 15 years, and even after I left Madrid I still go back when I am in Spain for routine check-ups or special work. They have done surgery-type work for me and my wife, including implants, and the materials they use are the best with very up-to-date technology and machines. Everyone I have recommended there has been very happy, and the other dentists and hygienists have also done absolutely great work. Very good, very experienced, high quality work - I highly recommend them.

I went to Madrid to do my veneers and also an implant with Dr. Julio, and it was amazing. He explained me everything, what he was going to do, very clearly, so I felt comfortable during the procedures. I have him on WhatsApp and every time I wrote him, he responded within minutes, and he was always on time. If I could give higher than a 10, I would. The price was much cheaper than in Miami, and he is very kind and very professional.

Julio is not only incredible humanly, he is a great human being and an excellent dentist with incredible hands. I had a pretty big treatment with him, including a crown and work on two molars, and it lasted more than a year and a half, almost two years, and the experience was incredible. His team is also incredible, kind, and they make you feel at home, like family, you are not a number, you are a patient and a human. I have nothing bad to say, only gratitude, and I have recommended him a lot with my eyes closed.
How much do orthodontists cost in Madrid?
Real price ranges from the jobs our vetted orthodontists actually do. Prices updated September 2026
Braces behind the teeth (lingual)
How much do lingual braces cost in Madrid?
Lingual brackets sit on the inside of the teeth, so nothing shows from the front, and that hidden fit makes them the most expensive fixed option in Madrid by a wide margin. Not every clinic offers them, and some list the service without currently taking new cases, so ask before you set your heart on it.
Both arches, national range
€4,500 to €8,000
Madrid specialist clinic starting price
from €6,500
Complex case
quoted after a full study
Clear aligners (Invisalign)
How much does Invisalign cost in Madrid?
Clear aligners are the most requested option for adults in Madrid and usually run 30 to 50% above metal braces, because every aligner is custom made and the case is planned digitally. A mild case with a short series costs far less than a full both-arch treatment. Ask what a lost aligner costs to replace, and whether a cheaper aligner brand would work for your case.
Mild case, short aligner series
from €1,175
Typical full Invisalign treatment
€2,500 to €5,500
Complex case, both arches
up to €6,500
Clear and ceramic braces
How much do ceramic or sapphire braces cost in Madrid?
Tooth-coloured ceramic and sapphire brackets work like metal ones but are far less visible, and in Madrid you'll pay roughly €700 to €1,000 more for the look. They suit adults who want fixed braces without the metal smile. The quote should cover the study, all reviews and the final retainers.
Ceramic or sapphire, both arches, typical
€2,300 to €3,800
Clinic starting price
from €2,500
Complex or long case
up to €5,000
Metal braces
How much do metal braces cost in Madrid?
Metal brackets are the cheapest way to straighten teeth in Madrid and still the go-to for complex bites. Some clinics quote per arch, so check whether a headline price covers one arch or both. Interest-free monthly payments spread over the treatment are common, but always ask for the total with and without financing.
One arch only
from €690
Both arches, typical Madrid range
€1,600 to €3,000
Complex case, longer treatment
€3,000 to €4,500
Retainers
How much do retainers cost in Madrid?
Teeth drift back without retention, so you'll wear a fixed wire behind the teeth, a removable retainer, or both, for the long term. In Madrid retainers are often bundled into the treatment price, and a quote that doesn't mention them is a warning sign. When charged separately, a set is a few hundred euros.
Retainers bundled into the treatment
often included, check the quote
Fixed or removable set, charged separately
€150 to €600
Braces for adults
How much do braces for adults cost in Madrid?
Most orthodontic patients in Madrid are now adults, and the price depends on the system you pick rather than your age. Metal is the cheapest, ceramic sits in the middle and clear aligners cost the most. Get the full quote in writing, including the study, every review and the retainers at the end.
Metal braces, both arches
€1,600 to €4,500
Ceramic or sapphire braces, both arches
€2,300 to €5,000
Clear aligners, full treatment
€2,500 to €6,500
Braces for children
How much do braces for children cost in Madrid?
Fixed braces on a teenager in Madrid are priced like an adult treatment, with metal brackets the usual choice, and a younger child may need a shorter interceptive phase first. Public healthcare only covers severe jaw malformations, so check whether your private dental policy includes children's orthodontics or a discount.
Metal braces for a teenager, both arches
€1,600 to €4,000
Ceramic braces for a teenager, both arches
€2,300 to €5,000
Early interceptive phase, ages 6 to 12
€800 to €2,500
Early treatment for children
How much does early orthodontic treatment for children cost in Madrid?
Interceptive treatment guides the jaw while it's still growing, usually between ages six and twelve, and it's shorter and cheaper than full braces later. Treating early can avoid a bigger bill in the teens, but not every child needs it, so get an orthodontist's opinion rather than a general dentist's.
Interceptive phase, ages 6 to 12
€800 to €2,500
Initial assessment
usually free
Full braces later, if still needed
priced as a separate treatment
Brace adjustments
How much does a brace adjustment visit cost in Madrid?
In Madrid the regular tightening visits (every four to eight weeks with brackets, six to ten with aligners) are normally built into the total treatment price rather than charged per visit. Before you sign, ask whether every review is included and what happens if the treatment runs longer than planned.
Adjustment visits inside a full treatment plan
usually included in the quote
Extra visits if the treatment runs over
ask before signing
Adjustment at a clinic that didn't fit the brace
quoted per visit
Emergency brace repair
How much does an emergency brace repair cost in Madrid?
A bracket that comes off or a wire that pokes is the usual brace emergency, and many Madrid clinics fix it at your next visit as part of your treatment. Repairs caused by neglect, a lost aligner or an out-of-hours visit are the ones commonly charged on top, so ask how your clinic handles them before you sign.
Loose bracket or wire during your treatment
often covered, ask your clinic
Bracket replaced after neglect, or a lost aligner
usually charged extra
Out-of-hours emergency visit
quoted per visit
Post-treatment check-up
How much does an orthodontic check-up after treatment cost in Madrid?
Once the braces come off, Madrid orthodontists move you into a retention phase, and the first follow-up checks are normally part of the treatment you already paid for. If you finished treatment elsewhere or want a new clinic to look at your retainer, expect to be quoted per visit.
Follow-up checks after your own treatment
usually included
Check-up at a new clinic
quoted per visit
Retainer check with a replacement
priced with the retainer
X-rays and scans
How much do orthodontic X-rays and scans cost in Madrid?
A proper orthodontic study in Madrid means a panoramic and a side-of-skull X-ray, photos and a 3D scan or moulds, and most clinics fold it into the treatment quote. If a clinic charges for imaging on its own, a panoramic X-ray is cheap and a 3D CT scan costs more. A price given without any study is a red flag, not a bargain.
Full orthodontic study (X-rays, photos, 3D scan)
usually included in the treatment quote
Panoramic X-ray on its own
€30 to €60
3D dental CT scan on its own
€80 to €150
Orthodontic consultation
How much does an orthodontic consultation cost in Madrid?
Nearly every orthodontist in Madrid offers the first assessment free or for a small fee, so it's worth seeing two clinics and comparing the written plans line by line. Ask who will actually run your case and check they're a registered orthodontist (colegiado), not a general dentist without the specialty.
First assessment at most Madrid clinics
free
Where a first visit is charged
€20 to €50
Full diagnostic study with scans
usually included, ask
Frequently Asked Questions
What expats want to know before hiring orthodontists in Madrid.
Are there English-speaking orthodontists in Madrid?
Yes, and more do as the expat community grows. The hard part is knowing who is reliable before you book, so every one we list is reviewed by other expats who have actually used them.
What should I check before hiring orthodontists in Madrid?
Read recent reviews, be clear about exactly what you need, and agree the scope and an estimate in writing before any work starts. For anything regulated, check they hold the right credentials for the job.
Are the doctors and dentists properly registered in Madrid?
Yes. Doctors and dentists must be registered, as colegiado with the relevant Colegio in Spain. Reputable private clinics will confirm their professionals' registration.
What should I avoid when hiring orthodontists in Madrid?
Avoid paying the full amount up front (a deposit can be fair), anyone who will not give a clear quote, and unusually cheap prices that get padded with extras later. And never use someone who cannot show the right certification.
How do I explain what I need if my Spanish is limited?
A photo, a short video or a written list does most of the talking, and the professionals we list are used to international clients. Booking an English-speaking one takes the stress out of it entirely.
How do you say orthodontists in Spanish?
In Spanish, orthodontists are usually called ortodoncistas. That is the word to search for or to ask a neighbour, though many professionals here are used to the English term too.
How do I find orthodontists I can trust in Madrid?
Check the reviews and any credentials before you book. On Locallista the reviews are phone-verified and the ranking is based on real expat experience, not who paid the most.
